I have run several campaigns that were successful. We placed 10,000 hologram stickers on the back of street signs in the downtown area. We did the same campaign on 3 college campuses. We hung a giant banner off a bridge during a Day long Jazz Festival. If your local TV station does live remotes stand behind them with a poster board.

What do you mean by ‘commercial marketing’?
The phrase isn’t commonly used in marketing literature.
The only use I have come across is when it used to mean ‘marketing for a profit-making organisation’ as distinct from ‘’social marketing for a not-for-profit’. That meaning doesn’t seem to fit your question.
Do you mean the use of ‘commericals’ in an advertising campaign?
Or do you just mean what are the negative effects of marketing full stop? And if so, do you really mean ‘marketing’ or just ‘promotion’?
