I work at a store that sells video games but It’s been hard on getting people to buy them, can someone give Ideas on how to increase profit without it being cost effective?
P.S. We Have done Fliers and Balloons
also If there’s a Website that can help me with Ideas I’d be very greatful

Sounds like you have tried to appeal to your customers with the balloons and flyers … good.

I believe that one thing you have missed is that you have a captive audience or customer base already at your fingertips and just need a little push to make your used video games sell.

What I would suggest is that you put up a sign that states something to the effect "Any Rental Fee of more than $???(a medium rental fee) qualifies for the purchase of a used video game of your choice for $??? (low price).

Understand that you have your customer there in front of you … they are renting videos and games from you daily … just push a little and make it worth their while to purchase a used game or video for your lowest possible price. If they think they have earned it … most will purchase the game.

Another thing to do is … DO NOT put all the games in order on a shelf. Get a tub or larger box and just toss all the games in a pile and let your customers rummage through them. Put up a sign that says something like "GARAGE SALE $??EACH"

Another idea is to put each letter of the alphebet on a ping pong ball or something interesting. Put them in a Fish bowl or find something that will cause the balls to move about … like an airflow or something like that. Anything that shows movement will draw attention and ultimately get action. When a customer comes up to pay for his rental … have them select a ball and he is able to choose a used game or video that begins with the letter on the ping pong ball for the low price of $????.

Another thing to do is … when a customer is checking out … automatically pick up a game and put it with his/her order and just tell them that for $???? they are getting the game. Its like force feeding them … most of them will purchase the game without even thinking of it.

Another idea is to announce a SWAP VIDEO NIGHT … invite your customers to bring in their used videos and games for a swap with others … It’s simple to do …. when the video comes in the store put a small sticky tag on it with a number. The number corresponds with the person that brought it in (so everything is accounted for) include the store in the group with a number as well. Lay out the games and videos out in order … no one except you will know whose games belong to who. More variety will excite customers.

Your store has to have the fetive spirit … wear stupid party hats or clothes that makes no sense … give your customers the impression that you are there to TOTALLY serve them … that it is a fun place to work and do business. Dress up like a clown … dress up in costume during all the holidays or how about EVERYDAY. Do you want to be known as the video store down the street or … let’s go to that Crazy Place that has videos!!! Does everyone wear name tags … not ones printed with a little plastic imprinter … but name tags with neat colorful writing on them.

Your target customers are right in front of you … use them.

I’ve found some interesting blogs like SEOmoz, Jonathan Mendez, shoemoney, searchenginejournal, martinez, Avinash Kaushish etc, but am finding it difficult to follow so many. Any expert opinions out there on which are the best blogs in this field? Can be abt SEO or PPC. Thanks!

In my opinion SEOmoz indeed is a great SEM. If you’re using SEM blogs to find answers on your questions, my advice is to sign-up at a forum with SEO experts so you can ask your questions directly instead of browsing articles. If you’re just reading blogs to discover new information then ignore the previous advice. If you’re interested in SEO expert advise, you might enjoy a visit to my new Webmaster / SEO Forum. You’re able to post questions there and receive advice from SEO experts. My forum is listed in the source list.

no it is not offering you anything they just want all your personal details and probably some of your money so they can ’send your award’

just block the email address and delete the email

remember if something sounds to good to be true,it usually is

I read so many blogs and hear so many podcasts that say "SEO is dead" or soon will be. Do you think there is any truth to these arguments? Or does SEO just get a bad rap because there are so many people who illegitimately claim to know so much about it, but aren’t successful? I work for a large agency mainly on PPC stuff but am thinking about learning more about SEO, just don’t know much about where it’s going.

My insights about SEO, I agree that it’s future is becoming cloudy and stormy because many site’s owner nowadays uses a blackhat approach for getting higher ranking position in SERP, in short they are cheating just to display a high ranking of their sites without following the legal optimization procedure. I’ve read one article on the internet that says like this, read the whole story from the link below:

if some have india email database please send it to me, it will very help us.

First put some useful contents on your website, second add meta tags to your pages and submit it to search engines. Register your site for multiple years and share like of your site with other good sites. This will improve ranking on search engines.

You can get email database from some vendors who sell it on CD, but you might get blocked if you send email using your ISP email account or your website account. Spamming is no longer tolerated these days.
